One hundred and forty four votes was reasonable result this week for the first Parliamentary outing of legislative amendments that would require new fossil-fuelled power stations not to emit more than 350g CO2 per kilowatt hour of energy output. Such a limit effectively bans new CO2 unabated coal plants, while allowing high-efficiency gas plants including co-generation plants to go ahead. Most of the Liberals supported the Green amendment to EU electricity law, plus a sprinkling of votes from Members in other groups. Here’s the record of the roll call vote. For the amendment text, see earlier post.
